Strategized to improve last-mile connectivity between India and Bangladesh for a State Government in India

The client, a State government of India, needed assistance in promoting intra-regional connectivity in infrastructure to deepen and expand regional economic cooperation and address issues of decreasing trade consumption between India and BBIN (Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal). They required Intueri’s assistance in studying and illustrating the existing cross-border transits and freight routes and assessing existing border points by conducting stakeholder interviews. 

The study for the state included:  

• Studying and illustrating the existing cross-border transits and freight routes describing; the condition of roads,  infrastructure facilities, and social conditions 
•  Assessing 7 existing border points by conducting 100+ stakeholder interviews with exporters, customer officials, logistics solution providers, and state, central and Bangladesh government    

• Examining the possibility of the State government as a logistics hub for the South-East Asian Market 
• Analysing the possibility of waterways as the primary mode of transportation between India and Bangladesh   
• Reviving the Railway links between India/Bangladesh 
• Upgradation process initiated  of 3 Land Customs Stations (LCS) to Integrated Check Posts (ICPs) by the Land Port Authority of India (LPAI)  
• Identified two trade corridors between India and Bangladesh, and presently, a large multilateral agency is helping the Bangladesh Government to develop the infrastructure of the corridor
