Geopolitics has lately emerged as a critical determinant of business strategy. Giving illustrations from select Indian corporates and taking a cue from De Villa (2023), this paper tries to develop a
menu-based framework. While De Villa suggests a six-step process to apply a multi-level framework and develop strategies to response to risk and take advantage of potential opportunities, the paper emphasizes the role of national level assessment. This
involves not just an assessment of the firm’s home country
government’s stand on a particular conflict and the firm’s
responses, but also the possible impact of the firm response of
foreign governments in countries where the firm has business
interests.
